Kayak in Amsterdam: A Bespoke Adventure Before Business Meetings
One of the Traveling Snow Sisters transformed an ordinary business trip into an unforgettable adventure exploring the captivating canals of Amsterdam in kayaks. It was fun to immerse ourselves in the history, charm, and local culture of this enchanting European city.
Our group of intrepid travelers found ourselves en route to the picturesque city of Amsterdam with an early Saturday arrival. We had the challenge of staying awake all day to get on local time. With its iconic canals and rich history, we were eager to discover the hidden gems that lay within the heart of this vibrant destination while doing something active to keep up awake.
To kickstart our adventure, we headed out to find lunch on the way to our meet up point. I found Foodware on google maps and we decided to check it out. This was definitely worthy of the positive reviews and I left one myself after we finished.
After lunch we knocked on the door of a charming houseboat, the meeting point for our kayak tour. As we arrived, our guide Ed warmly welcomed us, ready to share his extensive knowledge of Amsterdam's history and culture.
With our kayaks afloat, we embarked on a mesmerizing journey through the canals of Amsterdam. During our kayak tour, Ed led us to notable landmarks that spoke volumes about the city's past. We were fortunate to view the majestic Opera House, which stood as a testament to Amsterdam's cultural heritage. As we paddled along the Amstel River, we even had the opportunity to witness Genie Lifts in action on the famous Skinny Bridge, an iconic symbol of Amsterdam.
While Amsterdam is known for the Anne Frank House and the Jordan district, our adventure took us on a different path. Nonetheless, we couldn't help but reflect on the city's history. As we passed by significant locations, like the National Opera House, our hearts were filled with respect for the Jewish communities that once resided in these areas. Amsterdam's memorial sites served as poignant reminders of the importance of preserving and learning from the past.
By immersing ourselves in Amsterdam's history and culture before our business meetings, we elevated our trip beyond the ordinary. Exploring the canals in kayaks and witnessing iconic landmarks brought us closer together as a team. These shared experiences fostered a sense of camaraderie and adventure, injecting new energy into our professional endeavors.
While we didn't visit the Anne Frank House or the Jordan district on this occasion, our exploration of lesser-known areas allowed us to appreciate Amsterdam's diverse tapestry even more. So, next time you embark on a business trip, consider carving out time for a pre-meeting adventure like this. You'll discover a deeper connection to your destination and return home with unforgettable memories.
